About the Role: Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Senior Security Systems Engineer. This is a long-term contract role 12 months with two 12-month extension options, located at our client’s ACT, VIC or NSW sites, onsite working arrangements.
As the selected candidate, you will:
• Work across multiple external Australian Government entities to deliver advice and implement security controls across systems from Official to Top Secret.
• Provide specialist SME-level technical and cyber security advice.
• Design, implement, and remediate security controls across a variety of technologies.
• Develop security engineering and administrative documentation (SOPs, RFCs, design docs, as-built / as-configured, etc.).
• Facilitate and participate in workshops focused on security design and remediation.
• Develop and test prototype security configurations to inform guidance and uplift activities.
• Implement controls in alignment with the ISM, Essential Eight and relevant industry cyber standards.
• Support uplift activities under the Cyber Security Remediation Program (CURP).
To be successful in this role you should have:
• Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Systems Engineer, including experience providing advice, designing, implementing, and remediating one or more of:
– Microsoft Active Directory
– Networking, Gateway or Software-Defined Networking
– Cross Domain Solutions and/or Diodes
– Sentinel or Splunk
– Enterprise Linux/Unix (e.g., RHEL)
– Cloud services such as SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS in Azure, AWS, GCP
– Complex Windows Enterprise environments
• Ability to work independently and effectively in hybrid or remote teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation, reporting, presentations and executive briefings.
• Demonstrated ability to provide direction to others and communicate the purpose and value of their work.
• Ability to illustrate the relationship between operational tasks and organisational goals.
• Ability to set work tasks aligned with strategic objectives and communicate expected outcomes.
It is desirable if you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or equivalent industry training/certifications.
• Experience identifying, implementing, and/or applying security controls.
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with an NV1 Security Clearance.
Candidates must also be willing to undergo Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA).
