Join the digital team at a pivotal Queensland Government agency for a full time contract role based in the Brisbane CBD. The client is seeking a dedicated Senior Security Administrator (Vulnerability Specialist) to bolster their cyber security team. Reporting to senior management, the System Administrator (Vulnerability Specialist), is responsible for patching and upgrading IT infrastructure across many diverse platforms as part of a vulnerability remediation and enhancement project.  

As the selected candidate, you will:

  • Address and reduce cybersecurity vulnerabilities through patching, configuration adjustments, and system upgrades.
  • Manage the full vulnerability remediation lifecycle, including planning, change control, testing, and implementation.
  • Contribute to the creation of automated patching strategies to ensure regular patch deployment in alignment with the ACSC Essential Eight framework.
  • Deploy automated patching solutions for operating systems and applications across a wide range of technologies, including servers, workstations, and IoT devices.
  • Apply group policies, Intune policies, or scripting methods to remediate configuration vulnerabilities on servers, workstations, mobile devices, and IoT devices.

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Extensive experience in vulnerability remediation across multiple platforms, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • 5+ years in IT Operations or System Administration, managing diverse infrastructure such as Windows Servers, Active Directory, SQL clusters, VMware, and IoT devices.
  • Proven ability to deploy and configure enterprise tools, including Intune, Azure Update Manager, server monitoring systems, and Group Policy.
  • Working knowledge of Linux environments and familiarity with ITIL or similar ITSM frameworks.
  • Recent hands-on experience in vulnerability management within large enterprise, corporate, or government environments.
It is desirable if you have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or Cyber Security.
  • Relevant industry cyber security certifications.
