An established and fast-growing Australian SaaS/AI/Computer Vision technology company is seeking an experienced Senior Robotics Engineer to lead the design and delivery of a next-generation autonomous vehicle (AV) platform. This high-impact role is a top strategic priority for the business and offers the opportunity to deliver a commercially deployable robotics product with real-world safety and security applications across large-scale industrial and logistics environments.
This is a hands-on, full lifecycle engineering role focused on building an integrated AV prototype using existing technologies and platforms, including IP cameras, edge-based AI, and commercial-grade robotics. It is not a research or exploratory R&D position, your mandate is to deliver a working product with speed, precision, and reliability.
Reporting directly to the Head of Machine Learning & Development with a dotted line to the CEO and Head of Engineering, you will lead the design, prototyping, integration, and testing of an Autonomous Vehicle (AV) platform for industrial use.
Key Responsibilities
• Own the end-to-end development lifecycle of a deployable AV platform
• Integrate robotics systems with AI, computer vision, and IoT components
• Design for practical deployment, performance, battery life, environmental factors, and fault tolerance
• Collaborate with machine learning and product teams to ensure seamless software/hardware integration
• Develop and run on-device AI models for real-time video analysis and event detection
• Test and refine prototypes in industrial environments, incorporating client feedback and site-specific requirements
Your Background & Skills
• Extensive hands-on experience in robotics integration and autonomous systems
• Deep understanding of SLAM, navigation, obstacle avoidance, and autonomous mobility
• Strong knowledge of RoT (Robot of Things) principles
• Programming proficiency in C++ and Python
• Demonstrated experience deploying AI/computer vision models on edge devices
• Practical knowledge of integrating camera systems, sensors, and on-device inference engines
• Ideally, familiarity with platforms such as Unitree, Digit (Agility Robotics), Apollo (Apptronik), Optimus (Tesla), or Figure 01
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of technical delivery
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical engineering mindset
What’s on Offer
• A strategic, high-priority engineering role in a profitable and growing technology company
• Opportunity to lead the end-to-end first generation of a robotics platform with long-term product roadmap
• Direct impact on real-world safety outcomes for major national clients
If you’re a senior robotics engineer ready to make a real impact, apply now to lead the development of an industry-first AV product that merges robotics, AI, and computer vision into one deployable solution.
