About the Role
As a Platform Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving the internal cloud platform and developer experience at scale. You’ll focus on automation, environment management, platform observability, and infrastructure performance – always with developer enablement and operational excellence in mind.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the internal developer platform and tooling to support product engineering teams across the SDLC.
- Build reusable automation, self-service capabilities, and guardrails to support consistent and secure platform usage.
- Maintain and scale cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) aligned to performance, security, and governance requirements.
- Support deployment tooling, CI/CD workflows, and internal IT systems for engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to scope, estimate, and implement new features aligned with the product roadmap.
- Lead incident response efforts and proactively enhance monitoring, alerting, and platform observability.
- Drive continuous improvement of infrastructure automation, cost optimisation, and reliability engineering practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across DevOps practices and platform usage.
- Participate in on-call support and out-of-hours deployments when necessary to ensure minimal business disruption.
Skills & Experience
- 7+ years in software development, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.
- Proven expertise in:
- Containers & Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Kops or EKS
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible
- Cloud Infrastructure: AWS (multi-service proficiency)
- Scripting: Bash, Python, or similar
- CI/CD tooling and automation
- Demonstrated impact in improving:
- Infrastructure automation and reliability
- Developer enablement and platform self-service
- Cost efficiency and cloud optimisation
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in large-scale, complex environments.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills – able to work across teams and with senior stakeholders.
