Our client, a major Australian organisation undergoing significant digital and cloud transformation, is seeking a Monitoring & Observability Engineer to help build and enhance end-to-end visibility across a new cloud-based Sort Management platform. You’ll work closely with delivery teams, architects and vendors to uplift reliability, performance and service transparency across critical business systems.
  • 6 month contract + potential extensions 
  • Located in Burnley
  • 3 days in office each week

About the role
  • Develop, implement and maintain APM, logging and monitoring solutions (New Relic, Sumo Logic, ServiceNow ITOM).
  • Define and refine SLIs/SLOs and drive service reliability and operational readiness.
  • Support incident investigation, RCA and improvement of service performance.
  • Contribute to the observability roadmap and uplift best practices across multiple teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors on configuration, integration and support tasks.
  • Maintain documentation, follow change processes and provide occasional after-hours support.

About you
  • 3+ years’ experience in monitoring, observability, operations, DevOps or SRE roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with APM and logging tools (New Relic, AppDynamics, DataDog, Dynatrace, Sumo Logic, Splunk).
  • Experience in large-scale cloud or hybrid enterprise environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Scripting experience (Python/JavaScript) and familiarity with Java/J2EE application environments.
  • ServiceNow Event Management experience desirable.
