Required Skills:
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in network security engineering, including deployment and operation of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and security appliances.
- Proven track record leading technical teams, mentoring junior engineers, and managing performance.
- Hands-on proficiency configuring network security devices and security software such as Splunk, Rapid7, Tanium, Cisco solutions, and others.
- Strong knowledge of security standards, compliance frameworks, and enterprise security architecture.
- Ability to develop detailed technical documentation and communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-starter attitude.
- Solid understanding of security policies, controls, and compliance, including Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) guidelines, NIST, and client-specific policies.
- Certifications like CompTIA Security+, Network+, CCNA, CISSP.
- Previous experience working with Airservices Australia or similar government/defense entities.
- Familiarity with cloud security solutions and application security practices.
- Experience with Australian Defence security clearance processes.
- Knowledge of virtualizations, load balancing, and advanced threat detection tools.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 6+ years in network security roles, with at least 2 years leading technical teams.
- Prior experience in telecommunications or government sectors is a plus.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Australian Defence security clearance at NV1 level.
- This position is performed 100% onsite in Melbourne.
- Flexibility to work various shifts if required.
