Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Junior Internet Service Engineer / Service Reliability Engineer
This is a long-term contract role of 18 months with the possibility of 1 x 18-month extension, located at our client’s ACT or WA offices with a hybrid working arrangement (subject to negotiation with the line manager).

As the selected candidate, you will:
• Oversee reliability issues impacting ICT applications and services
• Enhance and refine ICT monitoring, including security event detection
• Develop and maintain automated alert escalations and incident remediations
• Work directly with technical support areas to resolve reliability issues
• Monitor services and respond to alerts in a timely and effective manner
• Maintain situational awareness of emerging cyber trends

To be successful in this role you should have:
• Experience with configuring and using monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace or Splunk
• Experience in scripting languages such as SPL, SQL, Python, and DQL
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards, preferably in federal government settings
• Experience with monitoring network deployments, such as Fortinet
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a large-scale environment

It is desirable if you have:
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral
• Experience with automation and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet, as well as CI/CD tools like GitLab CI or GitHub Actions
• Ability to identify problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment and coordinate with other technical support areas

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with the ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance.
