Our client is a leading higher education provider with more than 4,000 students, and more than 200 administrators and educators. They are seeking an accomplished technology leader to take on the position of Head of Technology Services – Academic Systems & Operations, a senior leadership role with a clear mandate to uplift academic technology capability, engagement, and outcomes across the organisation.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role offers the authority and visibility to drive significant change in how technology underpins teaching excellence, student success, and institutional growth. The successful candidate will bring both strategic vision and operational expertise, ensuring that academic technology systems are robust, secure, and aligned with organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop a technology services team of six, fostering collaboration and eliminating silos.
• Provide oversight of the Learning Management System (Moodle), including optimisation, integration, security, and user adoption.
• Drive the Moodle–TechOne data integration project, ensuring accurate student data flow, progression reporting, and compliance.
• Act as a strategic partner to academic and professional staff, ensuring technology engagement, adoption, and capability uplift.
• Align technology infrastructure and services with academic workflows, institutional goals, and student experience outcomes.
• Provide leadership in data governance, analytics, and information security across academic systems.
• Evaluate and implement emerging educational technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Extensive IT leadership experience (8–10+ years), ideally within higher education or similarly complex environments.
• Expertise in Moodle administration and system integration (TechOne highly regarded).
• Proven capability in data integration and ETL process management.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience leading organisational change.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build trust across academic and professional communities.
• A strategic mindset, complemented by the ability to deliver operational improvements.
Desirable qualifications and experience include:
• Experience in Australian higher education technology management.
• Familiarity with academic compliance, quality assurance, and data privacy requirements.
