We are seeking a highly skilled EL1 DevOps Engineer to join their team on a fixed-term contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership within a dynamic data delivery environment. 
   
Australian citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this role.

As the selected candidate, you will:
  • Provide technical leadership through design reviews, best practice advisement, and facilitating technical workshops for the project delivery team.
  • Review and refine the data delivery framework to enhance source integration, optimise existing data performance, and enable rapid development of new subject areas.
  • Manage the end-to-end technical implementation of new data, including designing data dictionaries, defining release procedures, and establishing best practices for data modelling and review processes.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives in delivery principles, coding standards, and documentation, while providing training and knowledge transfer sessions to team members.
  • Prioritise work items, understand and analyse user requirements, and develop as well as maintain SQL analytical and ETL code.
  • Maintain comprehensive system documentation and collaborate with data consumers, database developers, testers, and IT support teams to ensure successful project delivery.
To be successful in this role you must have:
  • Demonstrated competency in developing, auditing, and reviewing code across at least three of the following data warehouses: MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks.
  • High proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SAS, R, or Java, including building ETL pipelines and data workflows.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, with experience reverse-engineering end-user SQL code and using SQL ETL frameworks like DBT or SQLMesh.
  • Extensive experience working with SAS, including developing and customising SAS Visual Investigator data models, workflows, entities, and rules for investigative case management.
  • Ability to understand DevOps processes and effectively utilise DevOps tools in accordance with established procedures.
  • Knowledge of version control systems and their appropriate application within data projects.
It is desirable if you have:
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting system health, logs, and performance using SAS tools.
  • Exposure to AWS Cloud environment services such as AWS S3 and AWS Glue.
  • Competency in data modelling using metadata/model-driven frameworks and proficiency with systems like SAS and Excel.
  • Tertiary qualifications in mathematics, statistics, computer sciences, or relevant work experience of more than three years.
