Work for leading Telco company, theyre looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to support cyber governance, risk, and compliance, while working across multiple technologies and government frameworks. This role offers hands-on experience with Fortinet systems, incident response, and security uplift initiatives. this is a 6 month contract with a high chance of extension
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop security documentation, processes, and work instructions from scratch.
- Support cyber incident response and assist with IR exercises.
- Conduct vulnerability scanning/assessment using Tenable.
- Contribute to backup & recovery processes and develop BCP/DRP documentation.
- Assist with SIEM integration.
- Work with Fortinet systems, including PAM integration, wireless network assessments, and network operations.
- Advise internal teams, project groups, and agencies on governance, risk, and compliance.
- Conduct risk assessments and control gap analyses across Fortinet systems and related processes.
- Active NV1 clearance
- Knowledge of Australian Government frameworks: PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight
- Experience with Fortinet systems
- Familiarity with incident response, Tenable vulnerability scanning/assessment, backup & recovery, BCP/DRP, SIEM integration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in GRC, including security documentation, risk assessment, and control testing
- Ability to run or support Incident Response exercises
- Experience with Fortinet PAM integration
- Fortinet wireless network assessments
- General network operations experience
- Work across multiple technologies and government frameworks
- Hands-on role with a mix of GRC and technical security
