About the Role: Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Cyber Security Adviser – Risk and Compliance Analyst. This is a long-term contract role 12 months with one 12-month extension option, located at our client’s National Offices, primarily 21 Genge Street (GEN1), Canberra - Hybrid. (Working arrangements as advised by the client.)
As the selected candidate, you will:
• Conduct Cyber Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) and Security Impact Assessments (SIAs)
• Review and re-evaluate existing Security Approval to Operate (SATO) artefacts
• Facilitate IT projects and system upgrades into production using core security principles
• Assist system owners in identifying and assessing system risk levels
• Prioritise and triage new work items and manage enterprise and group-level cyber risks
• Determine security requirements and develop mitigation strategies to ensure risks remain within tolerance
• Prepare risk and compliance documentation for executive and governance bodies
• Communicate technical risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively
To be successful in this role you should have:
• Strong understanding of information security principles and risk management frameworks (ISO 27001, ISM, NIST, PSPF)
• Experience delivering SRAs and SIAs in complex environments
• Knowledge of threat modelling, risk treatment planning, and control effectiveness evaluation
• Familiarity with government/enterprise authorisation frameworks and accreditation processes
• Ability to interpret and apply compliance requirements across multi-vendor and cloud environments
• Experience assessing risks within cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, IaaS)
• Understanding of security architecture and relevant technical controls
• Strong written communication skills, including report writing and preparation of executive-level briefings
• Ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail
It is desirable if you have:
• Experience identifying emerging risks in evolving technologies such as Artificial Intelligence
• Experience supporting security governance forums or audit functions
• Experience working within large enterprise or Federal Government cyber environments
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with a Baseline security clearance.
