Our Public Utilities Client is looking for a talented and experienced Digital Security Architect to join their team and play a critical role in safeguarding their organisation's digital infrastructure by providing specialist Security Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) design and assurance services.

This role will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining robust security solutions to protect the Client's data and systems. The person in this role will work closely with various teams across the organisation to understand their business needs and implement security strategies within the various Digital projects.

The successful candidate must possess the following experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in designing, implementing and maintaining security solutions
  • Demonstrable experience in strong understanding of security best practices, frameworks, and standards (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS controls, ISM and Essential Eight)
  • Knowledge across various security concepts and technologies (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, identity and access management, encryption)
  • Strong analytical skills, logical and structured in approach to delivery.

The Security Specialist will be required to deliver the following outputs for projects being delivered across the Digital Program:

  • Design, develop and implement secure architectures for IT systems and applications.
  • Identify and assess security risks and vulnerabilities within the digital environment.
  • Recommend and implement security controls and best practices to mitigate risks.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats, trends, and technologies.
  • Develop and maintain security policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT operations, development and other teams to integrate security into all aspects of the organisation.
  • Foster a culture of security awareness within the organisation.
  • Gain Cyber Security Branch endorsement for security artefacts for projects being delivered.
  • Gain Digital Design Authority endorsement for security design standards and artefacts.
  • Develop Cyber Security templates and artefacts to be used for projects being delivered across the Digital Program such as system security plans, and security risk management plans.
  • Provide support, guidance and input relating to the delivery of systems according to Client standards.

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience as a Security Specialist supporting technology implementation
  • Relevant security certifications such as a CISM, CISSP or other relevant certifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Business or related discipline
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent active listening skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to produce high quality technical and stakeholder communications
  • Able to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously and with minimal supervision

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with data migration and remediation
  • Experience with system commissioning and decommissioning
  • Experience working in both traditional and Agile projects
  • Project Management certification(s)
  • Experience working in a regulated utility

The role has an initial 8-month contract with a possible contract extension. Due to the nature of the work, this role has be done on site at the Client's Mitchell, ACT office.

Candidates must be Australian citizens who can obtain Federal Government Security Clearances.
