The Role

The Systems Administrator to Provide technical support for the day-to-day operationsof the organisation's ICT systems software toolsets. This technical support role covers security, maintenanceand expert system administration to ensure the efficiency of ICT infrastructure software including identity management, directory services, databases, email, monitoring and provided SaaS solutions. The role contributes to the development and ongoing enhancement of systems through systems documentation and provides expert technical advice with a customer service focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with stakeholders to understand requirements, risks and set priorities:
  • Owning resolution of incidents, service requests and problems.
  • Perform the operation of IT services to maintain the protection of information and reliability
  • of systems across a diverse ICT portfolio:
  • Proactively support and maintain the infrastructure software solutions,
  • via software life cycles, adherence to ITIL based operational support and delivery
  • processes to provide high availability and usability of University systems
  • Provide technical administration and leadership to customers on products, systems
  • and configuration
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical support
  • Monitor, analyse and report on systems performance, capacity and availability
  • Contribute to building capability within the ICT technical stream ensuring effective
  • knowledge sharing
  • Developing and implementing standard operating procedures to ensure toolsets are
  • maintained, current, patched, available and secure. Providing information and
  • reports to demonstrate such.
  • Integrate system solutions across disparate platforms and technologies
  • Deal with a diverse range of projects requiring advice or quality assurance within
  • tight timeframes
  • Evaluates new system software, reviews updates, and identifies those that merit
  • Provide technical expertise to manage and resolve complex ICT issues
  • Participate in team rosters and on-call function out of business hours
  • Performs the implementation of operating environments and activities related to the
  • technical plan for the work area, ensuring effective conversion of design into operating
  • processes and activities, and the efficient use of resources to meet key priorities and

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience in a System Administrator role
  • Strong experience in Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Azure and cloud experience
  • Excellent stakeholder / Vendor management experience
