A Government organisation based in Geelong is looking for a talented User Interface Designer to join their team, the organisation is undertaking a large IT transformation and is looking to be at the forefront of digital presence.

This role is responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into user flows, customer journey maps, and prototypes from lo-fidelity through to high fidelity development ready cut ups.

The role involves the following duties;

  • Champion user experience design
  • Identify, synthesise, validate and demonstrate the needs of all clients and stakeholders, to design effective and enjoyable digital products and services
  • Lead interface design and provide work with organisations digital partners to ensure a consistent design experience across all products and services
  • Provide quality assurance to ensure development work is consistent with the design vision
  • Work in an agile sprint based environment where ability to accurate prioritise, estimate and deliver on time to agreed standards, is critical
  • Work with user stories in a scrum board, to ensure UX/UI work is prioritised and completed efficiently and effectively to maximise the value provided by digital partner
  • Work closely with product owners to define functional and technical requirements for product backlog items

The successful candidate will have the following skills & experience;

  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in a design agency or equivalent position
  • Thorough understanding of UX and UI design processes and activities
  • Demonstrated experience in applying Human-Centred Design or Design Thinking to solve real world problems and design new products and services
  • Demonstrated experience planning, designing and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility reviews
  • Demonstrated experience working with technical vendors to prioritise, estimate and deliver functional digital improvements
  • Experience documenting processes and knowledge management requirements
  • Thorough understanding of W3C/WCAG 2.0 and accessibility requirements
  • Experience using Atlassian software (Jira/Confluence) for agile project management and knowledge base documentation
