About the Company

Our client has a dominant presence in the Banking and Finance Industry, and they are currently looking for a Technical Product Owner to join them on an initial 6-month contract. Your primary responsibility in this role will be to own the shaping backlog for the assigned DevOps team/s.

The contract will most likely be extended, and the location will be in Melbourne CBD, with a hybrid work arrangement.


About the role

The Tech Product Owner, who reports to the Technical Delivery Manager, is responsible for driving outcomes within the DevOps team, ensuring that the future vision is maintained while prioritising work through the team's backlog and ensuring that the solution is performing correctly.

The DevOps team works with the other delivery teams to integrate new features and capabilities, as well as to deploy and support the application stack in production. Working primarily on a single-page web application written in NodeJS and wrapped in an Electron wrapper. You'll be keeping one eye on new feature delivery and the other on production support and observability.


Responsibilities

Managing the team backlog to ensure that there is enough runway to deliver technology solutions in the agile process.
* Prioritize work within teams and communicate with the program's larger product owner group to ensure priority alignment.
* Assist in the development of a strategic direction for technology solutions.
* Collaborate closely with the Architecture team throughout the programme to elaborate, groom, and prioritise solutions.

* Manage technical delivery issues, escalating as needed.
* Participate in agile ceremonies as needed, such as daily stand-ups, elaboration, grooming, retrospective, planning, and scrum of scrums.
* Involve external teams, projects, and vendors in activities such as engagement, negotiation, funding, and active management of agreed-upon workloads.

Skills and experience

* Previous experience managing teams of up to ten people (mandatory)
* Prior experience delivering front-end web applications (mandatory)
* Knowledge of complex multi-team code collaboration (mandatory)
* Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps (mandatory)
* 5+ years of experience in Agile delivery in a corporate environment (mandatory)
* Prior experience managing non-production environments or release processes (preferred)
* Prior implementation experience with Application Performance Management (APM) tools (preferred)
* SAFe Product Owner certification (preferred)
* Previous vendor management experience
* Endpoint Management knowledge (nice to have)
* Enterprise-level Solution Architecture experience (nice to have)
