Opportunity

Working for a well reputed company within the Utilities sector. My client is looking for an experienced Solutions Engineer/Developer to join their current team of 4, working on customising and support of a legacy billing system. This is a 12 month fixed term position with a potential 2 years of work ongoing.

Role duties:

  • Liaise with business and IT teams to assist with technical requirements, solution design development and evolution as well as solutions testing i.e. unit, integration and business testing support.
  • Assist with problem solving and defect resolution, solutions deployment (including operational documentation)
  • This role will also involve solutions support, including participating on after hours support roster
  • Understand and analyse business requirements to ascertain possible IT solutions with knowledge of technical requirements and IT operating environments and constraints
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Document, analyse, revise current and proposed solution designs
  • Build and test solutions
  • Support business acceptance testing of solutions and deploy solutions

Essential skills:

  • SQL (mostly Oracle, some SQL Server)
  • Oracle PL/SQL
  • .NET (C# .NET, ASP .NET)
  • Unix command line & shell script
  • proven track record as a Solutions Engineer/Developer
  • Good technical and process understanding of all aspects of the systems/software development lifecycle including:
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, and interpret business needs and propose, develop, and implement appropriate technical solutions
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills
  • Sound technical specification writing/documentation skills
