We are currently recruiting for a Senior System Officer to work within a dynamic team environment within a Government Agency.


About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the smooth operation of Systems

Operations services with emphasis on business roadmap activities, customer satisfaction and process improvement.


Responsibilities

  • Perform proactive problem resolution and complex problem analysis as necessary, to maintain system performance to meet user demand
  • Participate in projects to on board new customers and services to supported platforms.
  • Develop, maintain and perform operational procedures and ensure operational tasks are performed reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages
  • Evaluate new messaging solutions and monitor the market for emerging technology. Provide advice and recommendation to ICT programs and IS teams on opportunities for service improvement.
  • Take initiative and look for opportunities in the Change and Event management processes to ensure improve these processes and maintain compliance towards the Agency methodologies
  • Train and mentor the other members of the team to ensure they have the knowledge and abilities to assist other eHealth teams, existing LHD and Service Desk personnel for resolution of complex service related issues.
  • Preparation of reports that document the various performance characteristics of the information technology service delivery that relate to technical issues.

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated extensive experience and/or qualifications in supporting enterprise operating environment technologies: o Linux (Redhat, Ubuntu) o Unix (AIX, HP-UX) o Charon Emulation o Enterprise Compute
  • Hardware (IBM, Lenovo, HP)
  • Demonstrated extensive experience and/or qualifications in supporting Red Hat Linux Clusters (RHEL) and PowerHA/ HACP (AIX) Clusters.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement Performance, Capacity and Release Management of
  • Enterprise Linux and Unix environments and integrated technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in Incident, Change and Event management processes and technologies as aligned with ITIL methodologies.
  • Ability to be flexible and undertake a variety of roles and ownership within and across support and/or projects teams to deliver agreed outcomes with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to fault find and resolve issues in a complex messaging environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with management, vendors, partners and customers both internal and external to agency.
  • Establish collaborative and influential relationships with stakeholders, customers and colleagues, to ensure easy and effective achievement of team / project / business goals.
  • Effectively balance competing demands.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a constructive workplace culture.
