Our client is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Analyst to work with their Workforce Strategy and Analytics team and transform data into descriptive, predictive and interactive analytics.

This is an initial 3 month contract based in Brisbane's inner northern suburbs.


As Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will perform the project lead role in close collaboration with the key internal stakeholders and end users to specifically:

  • Confirm the business requirement specifications, incorporating current and future requirements.
  • Assess the current data warehouse, including data architecture, data integration (Extract, Load, Transform) and data solutions, frameworks and guidelines.
  • Deliver recommendations for improving the current data warehouse, including data architecture, data integration (Extract, Load, Transform) and data solutions, frameworks and guidelines. This will also cover the arrangements for the ongoing support, maintenance and management of the data warehouse.
  • Implement the approved recommendations to introduce efficient business process to support the Workforce Strategy and Analytics team to deliver outcomes.
  • Transition from the existing SAP Business Objects reporting tool to Power BI as the HR reporting solution, including the data model, design and building of reports. Definition and delivery of the key business requirements, including end user reports, is vital for the reporting solution transition to ensure the data warehouse supports current and future requirements.

Skills and experience

  • Business Analyst experience with proven experience of enterprise applications, preferably within a government organisation.
  • Experience with SQL Server and SQL programming
  • Experience with data warehouse design, implementation, and data modelling.
  • Experience of building reports in Power BI, particularly using HR and/or payroll data would be highly beneficial.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and management skills with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult, negotiate and influence a broad cross-section of stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • Strong ability to converse with both end-users and IT employees at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in analysing, isolating and interpreting business needs and designing appropriate technical solutions particularly involving HR and/or payroll data.
  • Experience in development of project artifacts and documents, such as, but not limited to; business requirements specifications, technical specifications, test case.
