Purpose:
Business Analysis is the practice of enabling change in an enterprise by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders and customers. Business analysis enables an enterprise to articulate needs and rationale for change and to design and describe solutions that can deliver value.
Working within an Agile environment will require developing use cases, operating within a sprint cadence, working with dedicated scrum teams as required.
The senior business analyst will provide guidance and leadership to other BAs within the project or program as well as interfacing within the senior project structure and business stakeholders to enable:
- The understanding of current state
- Define the future state
- Determine the activities required to move from the current to the future state.
- Planning and estimation
- Requirements elicitation
- Requirements analysis, management and communication
- Enterprise analysis
- Solution evaluation
The SBA will need to be proficient with Agile principles and be capable of acting as scrum master for process-based strategic work. The preferred resource will be:
- Experienced in Agile approach,
- experienced in scrum master role and scrum 'cadence',
- able to align to clients NWOW (New Ways of Working),
- Familiar with Industry Agile practices such as Scrum, Kanban and SAFe
Accountabilities:
Strategic Thinking, Develop Concept and Business Case
- Identify sponsor and stakeholders
- Defines the business goal/objectives and problem/opportunity
- Defines the desired outcome & the measures of success
- Assess current capabilities
- Define the required capabilities against the business need
- Identify capability gaps
- Define, assess and prioritize options
- Define business benefits
- Performs the above for smaller and less complex initiatives
- Assists Leads and Senior Consultants in performing the above for larger initiatives
Create Business Analysis and/or Requirements Management Plan and Approach
- Determine Business Analysis approach(es) to use
- Identify stakeholders, their roles and responsibilities
- Determine business analysis activities and deliverables
- Estimate business analysis effort
- Plan how to engage and communicate with stakeholders
- Determine requirement management process
- Assists Leads and Senior Consultants in performing the above for larger programs/projects
Requirements Elicitation and Analysis
- Identifies stakeholders and creates a stakeholder matrix.
- Define current state and future state processes
- Determine process gaps
- Prepare for and conduct elicitation activities
- Document and confirm elicitation results
- Specify and model requirements
- Organize requirements & Prioritize requirements
- Define assumptions and constraints
- Verify and validate requirements
Requirements Management and Communication
- Manage solution scope and requirements
- Manage requirements traceability
- Communicate requirements to stakeholders
- Ensure solution implemented meets requirements.
- Support testing
- Support transition to service
- Support business impact assessment
Scrum Master / Agile Lead for ITSC Strategic Program
- Manage the Agile cadence for the team
- Set and run Agile ceremonies as required
- Support resources in adopting Agile principles
- Assist the team and program to maximise benefits of an agile cadence
- Assist team and stakeholders with Jira issue management
