Position Objective

Provide specialised power engineering expertise for operating telecommunications power and facility infrastructure at highest reliability. Drive lifecycle and capacity upgrade projects towards sustainable business growth.

Duties & Responsibilities


The following responsibilities are attributable to the above position. However, other duties may be required from time to time as directed by your manager.

  • Creating, reviewing, updating technical documentation
  • Assessment of existing and new technologies
  • Support technology change and lab trials
  • Capacity planning of power systems and transmission facilities
  • Ensuring operational integrity of management of power systems is maintained
  • L3 technical support for NOC (Network Operations Centre)
  • Technical support for field operations team
  • Review of field testing and performance data
  • After hours on-call technical support
  • Support infrastructure upgrade (or new build) project activities with detailed designs, electrical drawings, commissioning and QA (quality assurance) documentation
  • Conduct site visits and undertake commissioning, QA tasks and troubleshooting
  • Technical support for datacenter rack and power deployments


Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years post graduate experience in telecommunications industry as power and/or infrastructure engineer
  • Experienced in developing electrical, layout, process drawings using MS Visio
  • Good understanding of remotely managed power technologies
  • Good understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
  • Experience in the resolution and rectification of faults with power to telecommunications networks and data centres
  • Good understanding in the operating capabilities of all network power equipment including Solar PV, DC, AC, Battery technologies
  • Good understanding of cooling technologies including split system air-conditioning and free-air cooling
  • Experienced in the development and documentation of specifications, operating standards and procedures
  • Understanding of power management systems supporting and protecting network integrity and reliability
  • Experienced working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Must be Australian Citizen


Education

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering



Knowledge and Skills

  • Telecommunications networks and critical infrastructure
  • Datacentre products
  • Fault, performance data analysis using MS Excel or similar tools
  • Good attention to details
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
