About the Company

We are currently recruiting for a Network Engineer reporting to the Infrastructure Operations Manager to work within a dynamic team environment within the Public Sector.

About the role

The successful candidate will be required to design, implement and manage overall architecture of the departments network to deliver continual service improvement over the life of the network, ensuring secure, reliable, responsive and personalised network services are delivered to the department.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical guidance to network team in designing, configuring and maintaining data and voice network infrastructure to ensure compliance with policies, ensuring that all issues are addressed and resolved.
  • Provide guidance in the planning, design and delivery of infrastructure and application projects, especially those highly dependent on the network communications and security infrastructure, providing advice that aligns with Government and DPC strategies.
  • Analyse, evaluate and monitor network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance and diagnose network problems, and determine the most appropriate technical solutions for resolving problems and issues to improve network performance and satisfies user's needs.
  • Evaluate new network hardware and software solutions and undertake monitoring and scanning of the enterprise's external environment to identify emerging technologies that have the potential to create value.
  • Reduce operational risk and improve availability of the network by ensuring network access, monitoring, control, evaluation and documentation practices are maintained and adhered to.
  • Monitor and analyze trends and patterns relating to the network communications infrastructure to identify immediate and long-term areas of improvement, emerging risks, vulnerabilities and threats, and to drive service improvement.


Skills and experience

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching, and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security, qualifications (or working towards completion) or an equivalent advanced knowledge of switching, routing and troubleshooting in Cisco enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in an architectural role for a multi-site enterprise grade network, supporting high availability, extensive network security systems and diverse access options.
  • Knowledgeable and experience across Cisco Switching and Routing such as; MPLS, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, VRF, Policy Based Routing, Cisco Platforms
  • Ability to communicate well with clients, vendors and project teams
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in the design, configuration management, operation and problem troubleshooting of a diverse range of networking services, components and tools. The information below is provided for reference:
    • Technologies include but not limited to: Cisco centric networking, security and management
    • Cisco ISE, Prime LMS, Zscaler, Splunk, Azure Sentinel etc.
    • Wi-Fi, VoIP, and Video Conferencing systems
    • Secure remote access from mobile devices, utilising IPsec and SSL VPN
