Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the installation, upgrading of Linux operating systems, such as Suse/Solaris Linux and Red Hat.
- Support the release and deployment of applications over the software development lifecycle and through support for the developer, testing and Production environments.
- Ensure that the systems are managed to agreed levels of service and data integrity.
- Ensure that system performance is monitored and reviewed.
- Provide technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures.
- Provide appropriate information to specialists, users and managers.
Skills and experience
Demonstrated high level of skill and experience in the maintenance and operational support of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Operating Systems. Experience in the following will be highly regarded:
- Configuration in a SAN environments.
- Backup and Recovery products.
- Installation of Security patches and investigation of incidents
- Solaris and Windows Server Environments
Demonstrated high level ability in operating system administration tasks, including:
- Installation and configuration.
- Performance Tuning
- Shell Scripting
- Security Administration
- Storage Management.
- Day-to-day operational support.
