About the role

The Department is looking for an experienced tester to undertake detailed testing of the Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM) software inputs and outputs. FullCAM is a complex ecosystem model that estimates greenhouse gas emissions from the land sector. Results from this system are used to produce annual emissions estimates as part of Australia's National Inventory Report.



Responsibilities

* develop FullCAM test strategy and test plans taking into account of FullCAM work priorities;

* work with business users, technical experts and scientists to identify test cases and metrics, covering entire range of FullCAM inputs and outputs;

* develop testing documentation, test scripts and test data;

* implement automated test suites tailored to each module within the FullCAM application, to reduce amount of manual testing and increase productivity;

* undertake functional, regression and performance testing, raise JIRA tickets, and follow through bug fixes; * track and report test results and work with developers to fix known issues;

* assist with the development and review of functional specifications according to business priorities; This role will suit a tester with experience in data analysis or scientific computing environment.


Skills and experience

Demonstrated experience (minimum of 5 years) in software testing (manual and automated) including planning, implementation and reporting

Demonstrated ability to liaise and communicate with specialist ICT practitioners, scientists and business users

Experience in using JIRA or relevant test management tools

Ability to work independently with developers, business users and scientists

Formal certification in software testing

Experience with spatial data testing and scientific computing

Background knowledge in forestry, soil carbon, cropping and grazing management would be advantageous
