Technical Competencies

  1. Good understanding of communications systems and IP networks;
  2. Several years experience with a wide range of communications products and systems including system installation, commissioning, systems fault finding, diagnosis and resolution;
  3. Exposure to understanding customer issues and ability to achieve Total Customer Satisfaction;
  4. Good knowledge of Microwave Linking Systems (Aviat, NSN);
  5. General knowledge of WAN technologies, routing and encryption (Cisco, HP, Telstra GWIP);
  6. Familiarity with Two Way Radio Systems (Tetra and P25);
  7. Excellent documentation skills with the ability to prepare written information accurately, clearly, effectively, and succinctly for various target audiences, including business, enterprise, and technical;
  8. Understanding and appreciation of Project Management methodologies and delivery; and
  9. Ability to maintain continuous professional development in the candidate's areas of expertise

Key Responsibilities

  1. Install and commission Voice IP based Switching equipment as per system design;
  2. Configure and Commission Radio sites;
  3. Complete system installation & configuration according to documentation;
  4. Complete factory & field acceptance test procedures according to documentation;
  5. Produce and maintain "as-built" documentation;
  6. Provide technical assistance during system trials and post-commissioning;
  7. Provide system trouble-shooting and rectification of technical issues;
  8. Ensure installation and configuration is in accordance with documentation and contracted Quality Installation Standards;
  9. Conduct factory & field acceptance tests;
  10. Ensure all equipment meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements;
  11. Report and assist rectification of non-conformance issues;
  12. Co-ordinate repair and replacement until customer acceptance and/or completion of punch list;
  13. Assist in resolving technical issues during all stages of the project;
  14. Provide installation guidelines to Sub contractors;
  15. Maintain IT and Linking Systems related to Two Way Digital Networks;
  16. Report the current status of work on a regular basis;
  17. Conduct site and RF coverage surveys;
  18. Support the Project Team in completing project deliverables; and
  19. Other additional duties as required from time to time.

Education and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Year 12 - Maths/Science/English;
  • Electrical Technician Course(s);
  • Cabling Certification/OTJ training;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Product Suite; and
  • Driver's license.

Desirable:

  • Industry recognized certification (Aviat / NSN / Cisco / HP);
  • Electrical Diploma; and
  • Transmission Systems Training.

Successful applicants will be required to:

  • Pass a police security clearance; and
  • Travel to customer remote site locations as required, from time to time which may involve several days and weeks based on customer locations.
