Development Manager - Product & Planning - IT Product and Value Chain

Purpose of Role:
The development manager will plan, direct and coordinate the technical design, development and operation of information systems and technology solutions to meet business needs.
The role will work on projects within the Product & Planning domain in an exciting new Program of work. There are multiple enhancements, projects, new modules and different releases that will be done in FY18/FY19 that the development manager will manage the delivery for.

Areas of accountability include:

  • Devise software development and resource plans
  • Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of software developed within a program into production
  • Manage IT delivery within the program to time, budget and quality
  • Ensure appropriate quality checks are in place on all IT Deliverables
  • Identify and proactively manage risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies for the project that impacts on build and execute phase activities
  • Lead a team of developers both onshore and offshore and resource management / delegation of work to teams
  • Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure their development requirements are being met and any issues are communicated with the business effectively
  • Manage the interdependencies between project teams and other parallel build activities (where applicable)
  • Manage ongoing 3rd level support of developed applications to reduce the impact of application defects and associated incidents
  • Work in close association with project manager by taking the end to end accountability of technology solution

Career Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should have previous experience in managing development teams as well as large programs of work
  • Ideally around 5+ years experience in a Development Manager role which has incorporated the management of a team including internal and external resources
  • Solid Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Product Lifecycle Management experience
  • Ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure their development requirements are being met and any issues are communicated effectively
  • Experience in application of Software Quality Principles and Risk Management
  • Experience in leading software testing
  • Experience working under different project methodologies - Waterfall, Agile (XP/Scrum)
  • Experience in working in a continuous delivery environment
  • Experience in middleware technologies such as Webmethods and Informatica
  • Experience in JDA products particularly CKB is highly desirable
