Our Federal Government Client is seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to facilitate the support for Microsoft SQL databases which is the preferred technology for the Client.

This is a long-term initial 12-month contract with 2x12-Months possible extension options, located at the Client's Canberra location. The position requires active Neg Vet 1 (NV1) Clearance.

The duties of the successful candidate will include, but not be limited to:

  • Must be able to demonstrate experience working with a Microsoft SQL infrastructure supporting SQL server 2016/2019 environments.
  • Ability to work with Transact SQL and PowerShell.
  • Experience integrating and analysing diverse data sets in complex and business critical environments.
  • Assist with performance and capacity management of SQL server systems.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft SQL availability groups implementation.
  • Provide specialist SQL server services for upgrade projects.
  • Provide technical advice as required for the departments SOE.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge to implement and manage the operational aspects of hybrid solutions built on Microsoft Azure and SQL Server.
  • In conjunction with managers, prioritise, analyse, and complete tasks according to the nature and urgency of requests.
  • Proven critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills required.
  • Ensure that tasks and progressive action history are duly recorded and concluded to the client's satisfaction.

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Demonstrated experience managing MS SQL Server on-premise and SQL Azure in a large operational environment;
  • Experience in Transact SQL and SSIS;
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake SQL database administration in a complex
  • MS Windows - Active Directory based server environment;
  • Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to liaise with team members, management, end users and vendors;
  • Proven critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills; and
  • The ability to work under pressure, deliver business outcomes and work effectively as part of a team.
