Job Description

Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Data Scientist to contribute to large and complex projects that leverage Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

This is a long-term contract for 5 months with 2x12 months extension options, located at our Client's Canberra location.

As the selected candidate, you will:

  • Contribute to the development of machine learning solutions to support IP Australia's strategic objectives, including the evaluation of commercial software or state of the market, or data analytics.
  • Developing and reviewing both front-end and back-end coding, reviewing and updating development frameworks and working with third-party libraries.
  • Provide data engineering expertise in working with big data to support machine learning development, facilitate research and product development.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to collaborate on machine learning or other data related initiatives.
  • Conduct testing and reviews for software development, data processing and analysis.
  • Build machine learning and data science capabilities within ITG by collaborating or training other data scientists or staff within the group.
  • Provide input into governance, analysis of risks and issues on the use of machine learning and data (in the context of AI and automation).

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience in developing machine learning and data science solutions using techniques and technologies such as Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Classification.40%
  • Relevant ICT qualifications, industry certifications and experience in data science specialising in machine learning, data science or statistical analysis, together with excellent communication and collaboration skills to support and maintain a culture where team members work closely to deliver quality outcomes.40%
  • Experience in MLOps delivery of Machine Learning based solutions using commercial cloud platforms.20%

It is desirable if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience in DevOps product lifecycle from inception to production and pipeline configuration.
  • Experience in undertaking full-stack development.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian Citizens who have the ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.
