We are currently recruiting for a Data Governance and Business Intelligence and SAS Data Analytics to work within a dynamic team environment within a Federal Government agency.

About the role

The Data Governance and Business Intelligence (Analyst) will be responsible for interpreting the requirements of the business and developing suitable solutions to interpret and transform data into presentable dashboards. Day to day the role will work between daily tasks/problems needing accurate reporting under tight deadlines and longer-term dashboards/analysis that will enable management to understand the Client's Financial Performance. The position is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and may be required to represent and negotiate on behalf of the Client to advance the Client's interests across a range of forums.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver the Agency's continuous improvement initiative to automate the Agency's reporting in SAS, utilising the information in the Agency's data warehouse.
  • Working in a complex enterprise data warehouse environment to source information relevant for business and finance users.
  • Managing end-to-end uplift of the Agency's management reporting from a business and technical perspective including requirements, design, testing, training, and rollout.
  • Assist finance areas source, transform and interpret data into actionable metrics and insights to optimise their business.
  • Articulate complex information into simple messages that can be consumed by key stakeholders with varied levels in the Agency.
  • Work closely with Agency's Business Intelligence and Data Services team to progress the Financial Control Branch's data assurance and reporting requirements.
  • Provide training to develop an effective Finance function of skilled users in SAS Enterprise Guide and Visual Analytics.


Skills and experience

Essential criteria

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including VBA)
  • Highly developed skills in data analysis and report development including experience in using data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or SAS Visual Analytics.
  • Experience in SAS Enterprise Guide (including coding with SAS and SQL).
  • Ability to interpret and transform data into presentable dashboards
  • Good business acumen, with keen desire to analyse and improve the business.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in working with SAP financial systems and/or Customer Relationship Management Systems
  • Experience with a variety of programming languages (R, Python, etc.) and good understanding of data repository systems (business intelligence infrastructures)
  • Experience in financial reporting or working with financial information and experience in a Federal Government finance environment.
  • Exposure to data governance principles and processes
