About the Role
As Cloud Service Support Engineer you will be responsible for the support and maintaining configuration management for the Cloud Services environment. You will proactively support system and application capacity planning and analysis and provide ownership and accountability for incidents related to defined applications. You will deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in Cloud Environments

Responsibilities

  • Build and support environments in Service Provider Cloud Environment
  • Support and maintain configuration management for the Cloud Services
  • Provide daily system/application administration
  • Monitor and proactively support system/application capacity planning and analysis
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for defined applications
  • Provide direction and guidance to other Application Support Analysts
  • Provide ownership and accountability for incidents related to defined applications
  • Deploying, managing, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in Cloud Environments
  • Migrating existing on-premises application to Cloud Service Providers
  • Implementing and controlling the flow of data to and from Cloud Service Providers
  • Selecting the appropriate Cloud Service based on compute, data, or security requirements
  • Identifying appropriate use of Cloud Services operational best practices
  • Estimating Cloud Services usage costs and identifying operational cost control mechanisms
  • Working effectively with Service Providers
  • Working effectively with Project, Program and Portfolio teams

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Cloud Service Support Engineer or similar Administrator role
  • Manage customer expectations and competing priorities
  • Understanding of complex business operating environment
  • Experience in management of application life cycle including development / enhancements and day-to-day operational support
  • Effective written and verbal communication and negotiation skills and ability to build a strong relationship
  • Demonstrated experience using Cloud Services and Azure services, administration, concepts and open source technologies
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration preferably with Windows 2008 & above server administration
  • Experience with automation of environment build & refresh
  • Configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience using a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
  • Ability to install, configure using automation & support systems on Linux & Windows e.g.
  • Oracle, MSSQL server, WebSphere, Tomcat and applications
  • Problem solver and ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Sound knowledge of networking and infrastructure
  • Strong experience with MS SQL and Oracle
  • Sound knowledge IT infrastructure & Operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
  • Cloud certifications
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Graphite, Carbon, Grafana, LogStash
