About the role:

A nationally recognised company is looking for a Category Specialist with a background in cloud and systems integration to join their team in Melbourne's Inner South East.

As a Category Specialist you will be the primary procurement resource responsible for managing various project-based RFP activities in the cloud (SaaS) and systems integration domains. You will also be involved in RFx development, evaluation/selection and contracting phases.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to better understand business requirements for third party goods and services
  • Record and report performance of initiatives
  • Report on risks and opportunities in delivery of initiatives
  • Develop and implement strategies that optimise Total Cost of Ownership
  • Manage sourcing activities and prioritising these across business objectives
  • Lead the full sourcing process including development, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, risk mitigation and contract execution
  • Shape contractual terms and conditions employing best practice in contracting methods to manage risk and maximise value
  • Support the implementation of new contracts and change of supplier
  • Maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers
  • Identify supplier improvement and innovation opportunities
  • Identify initiatives which are costs efficient
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable external laws, regulations and industry codes including Trade Practices Act

The Successful Candidate:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in relation to SaaS, business applications and associated tier one system integrators
  • 5+ years' experience in procurement or in commercial management within IT/Digital space
  • Solid technical understanding of SaaS agreement constructs specifically with international/mega vendors
  • Experience in the formation of agile v waterfall SOWs
  • Sourcing initiative project management experience
  • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills in project and contract negotiations
  • Demonstrated skills in the development of Total Cost of Ownership models including cost dimensions and risk analysis elements
  • Demonstrated understanding of Australian Contract law in relation to purchase and supply or goods and services
  • Competency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project and e-procurement tools/systems.
