We are looking to hire an experienced Capacity Planning Manager for one of our premier clients. This role plays an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that goals and objectives of new business development requests are accomplished within prescribed time frames. The incumbent must consistently aim to deliver quality services and/or solutions that meet business requirements and ensure that goals are accomplished in line with business objectives.


  • Ensure that adequate IT capacity exists to meet required levels of service
  • Manage capacity to match the demand cost effectively
  • Analyze capacity and performance issues to determine ways to improve capacity and performance at acceptable cost levels.
  • Oversee and coordinate the implementation and maintenance of the Capacity
  • Management process / framework / procedures


  • Produce capacity plans in line with organization business and IT planning cycles; identifying requirements early enough to accommodate procurement and approval lead times.
  • Document need for increases and reductions in hardware based on service leve
  • Requirements, targets and cost constraints.
  • Provide regular management reports which include current usage of resources, trends and forecasts
  • Coordinate and oversee performance testing of new systems and solutions
  • Provide holistic management of capacity that includes people and processes as well as technology and timeframe
  • Oversee decisions and actions to utilize Demand Management for controlling Capacity when necessary
  • Ensure shortfalls in capacity are recognized and appropriate corrective actions are identified and progressed on a timely basis.
  • Create and maintain forward looking capacity forecasts to predict futureHardware / software spend
  • Provide regular reports on capacity to the Availability Manager and Problem Manager.
  • Organize and maintain a regular capacity review process
  • Agree appropriate actions to maintain or improve capacity levels
  • Initiate and coordinate actions required to maintain or improve capacity across IT units
  • Act as a coordination point for changes to capacity levels when needed.
  • Facilitating the generation of performance reports.
  • Collaborate with other IT Service Delivery team members to ensure all other Service considerations are considered and planned for.
  • The results of capacity analysis studies are technically accurate and communicated in clear business terms to the respective business and IT areas
  • Communicate with the business areas to present results of the completed analysis
  • Produce Business and component Capacity Plans and reviews at agreed intervals
  • Continuous improvement of capacity management services within Organization
  • Organize / Participate in Capacity Forums as per the Organization Capacity Management Process / Framework.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Good understanding of capacity management principles and best practices.
  • Good Knowledge and experience in monitoring tools
  • Advanced skills on the use of MS Excel (Mandatory) for analysis, correlation - forecasting and charting of performance data.
  • Experience with multiple operating system platforms is highly desirable (Windows, Linux, and HP­UX)
  • Experience in Capacity Planning of Virtualized and Cloud Computing environments, like Azure / Vcloud Air / VMware (VBlock).
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools is highly valuable (CA­Introscope, Google Analytics, HP­OVPM & Glance, CA Performance Centre etc.).
  • Diverse technical background (i.e. platform, network, applications) with strong performance analysis and capacity planning experience
  • Advanced analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance high-level planning and analytics activities with detail oriented work
  • Good influencing skills across a matrix structured organization.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities
  • Capacity to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously
  • Work with and influence cross functional teams and projects
  • Ability to influence peers, colleagues, and internal customers which includes Senior Executive Teams.
