Duties:

A business analyst is required to participate in the analysis and documenting of core systems functionalities. For some systems the enhancements will be partial/minor and for other systems these will be more significant/end to end. The systems include case management systems and online services. The Business Analyst will:

  • Meet with key stakeholders to gather business requirements
  • Produce "As is" and "To be" process maps
  • Analyse, workshop and document the enhancements required for the system
  • Produce business and functional requirements
  • Document use cases and scenarios
  • Assist in preparation of test cases and in validating testing
  • Produce other visual representations of processes as needed during the project

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required

  1. Extensive experience in business analysis including the tasks listed above
  2. Specific relevant professional training, including an understanding of system design, project management and database design concepts
  3. Use design practices to develop requirements from discovery and ideation to delivery
  4. Produce user based research through workshops, story boards, prototyping and other methods to create mutual understanding of requirements
  5. Promote and support evidence based design decisions through qualitative and quantitative research methods
  6. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with clients as well as in a team
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills

Selection Criteria:

  1. Proficiency in:
    1. writing specifications for system functionality or system support
    2. using various products such as MS Word, EXCEL, Explorer, Power point and VISIO
    3. writing Test Scripts, Test Reports deliverables and establishing Test Data
    4. designing and conducting user research through interviews, workshops, analytics and surveys
    5. creating insights with personas, user journeys, storyboards, process diagrams and other UX modelling methods
    6. developing wireframes and prototypes applying consistent design patterns
    7. evaluating the usability and value of systems through retrospectives, product showcases, research methods and facilitation of ongoing feedback

  1. Desirable:
    1. Good knowledge of case management systems or similar style workflow systems (Desirable)
    2. Government experience
  2. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work to achieve deadlines
  3. Good interpersonal skills, establishing good working relationships with fellow IT colleagues, the business and stakeholders
