The BI Business Analyst has a fundamental role enabling and supporting the business to leverage BI & Analytics tools.
You will be confident capturing business requirements using Business Analysis techniques, liaising with Business Users and providing support within BI&A team to translate business' requirements to enable the design, development, testing, training and implementation of BI&A solutions
Key Accountabilities
- Utilise functional knowledge to translate business requirements into viable solutions, participating in the analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of BI & Analytics solutions
- Develop business requirements and functional design documents, end user manuals and business glossary
- Develop user stories that balance great user experience with fit for purpose UI development
- Regular and effective internal customer engagement to build strong partnerships with stakeholders
- Work with business units, project managers and project teams responsible for IT delivery and services
- Provide realistic estimates of the time required to complete specific tasks
- Support the BI&A Engagement Lead to build positive working relationships with stakeholders and ensure their optimal engagement and contribution.
Experience, Knowledge and skills
Essential
- Experienced story teller and designer of effective BI user presentation experiences
- Strong analysis and design skills along with the ability to translate business user's needs (and intent) into solutions
- Strong customer (end-user) engagement experience and skills
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of Process Mapping and Data Analysis techniques
- Strong analytical, logical, verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems assisting the business in decisions through use of BI & Analytics tools
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a small team
- Experience in User Training & Support
- Knowledge of Testing and quality control
- Strong understanding of Business Intelligence concepts (DW analysis and report development such as Microstrategy, SAP BusinessObjects or similar software)
- Advanced Microsoft office skills, particularly Excel
- Tertiary qualification in a Business related discipline
Technical
- 3-5 years demonstrated experience in Business Analysis, ideally related to BI, Data Warehouse and Analytics solutions
- Programming concepts, knowledge of SQL
- Working knowledge of Data Warehouse design concepts
Desirable:
- Experience in designing solutions requiring enterprise application integration and data integration
- Understands the end-to-end System Development Life Cycle
- Knowledge of Enterprise DW implementation and Data Modeling techniques
- Knowledge of Analytics and Statistical tools and their application in a business context
- Knowledge of industry trends, evolving business needs, and solutions roadmaps
