A “seasoned campervan’er”
[Breaking news] – Passing vehicles have been hooting their horns and we have just realised the back right corner bumper of J1 has been dragging along the ground – for how many kilometres?? We just don’t know. How has this happened you may be asking??
WELL…. Once we had arrived it didn’t take us long to notice that the back right corner bumper had been seen to with a very large amount of gaffer tape. A previous driver had crashed J1, much to the disappointment of Jayco (who have provided the two vehicles to Smile for the journey), into a very firm post.
This particular person, a very confident chap, apparently “has done a whole heap of caravanning with his wife” and had assured the crew that his ability behind the wheel would be second to no one. How wrong he was. From all reports, within 15 minutes the J1 support vehicle had been driven into a bollard and for the past however many kilometres the back right bumper has been dragging along the arid outback road collecting earthy red dust. Interestingly this person, “a seasoned campervan’er”, had failed to mention this upon his return to work…
Back on the road now – The back right bumper is off! We had to disconnect to wires to the lights and are now pushing on like veterans.
