Pine Creek to Darwin
What a pleasant surprise Pine Creek turned out to be! The Lazy Lizard caravan park not only has a swimming pool to cool off in, but also a Lazy Lizard bar with beautifully chilled beers to help cool the insides. After a refreshing dip, it was on to the bar for a Coopers or two, then back to the vans for a dinner of barbecued salmon, cooked by Chris McLeod’s dad, Ian. Ian and his wife Leonie have been with the cyclists since Cairns and have been a huge help with camp set up and meal preparation and will be really missed when they leave the team in Darwin.
After an easy day of about 90kms yesterday, it’s back to reality today with a 220km ride ahead. The boys were up early and cycled out at first light at about 6.45am. We have now just arrived at Adelaide River for a breakfast stop, then it’s on to Darwin this afternoon.
