Pay rises across many Australian cities were evident in some IT roles such as project architects, programmers and related technicians.
Project architects, programmers and related technicians are some of the hotly contested IT skills that have experienced salary increases so far this year, according to a new survey.
The Peoplebank quarterly Salary Survey, indicated that despite a slow start to hiring, pay rises were evident in some of the 50 IT roles it tracks across Australia’s main cities.

The South Australian IT market is well positioned for growth in 2011 with major projects worth more than $80 billion creating investment and jobs and stimulating local industries and business.
During the past quarter, demand for IT workers in the SA market has continued at a similar pace to the strong demand experienced throughout the second half of 2010. As a result candidates are typically investigating several prospective jobs at the same time.

Australia’s IT industry has experienced a number of salary increases this year, despite slower than usual hiring activity over the December-January period caused by major issues including the floods in Victoria and Queensland and Cyclone Yasi, according to recruitment firm Peoplebank.
The firm’s quarterly salary survey noted a number of pay rises amongst the IT field, however reported not all of the 50 IT roles it monitors Australia-wide were so lucky.
