Brisbane IT&T Market Update: February 2010
Although the Brisbane market continues to be challenging, optimism is growing across most sectors that 2010 will see improvement over 2009. During January demand grew and this initial growth has been sustained through the first half of February.
Predicted In Demand Skills
- Enterprise Application Integration
- Web 2.0 technologies
Predicted Growth Sectors
We expect the Utilities sector to drive the most demand, followed by the Banking/Finance and Community Services sectors.
Contract Rate and Permanent Salary Predictions
Like 2009, we expect both contract rates and salaries to remain extremely flat, with no growth predicted through at least the first half of 2010.
Tips for contractors
Contracting can be rewarding, exciting experience. It gives an individual the opportunity to work on interesting projects, and demonstrate the ability to deliver an exceptional result for the client. As your agency we partner with you to find a contract that goes beyond the means just to pay your bills - it’s a great leap forward in developing your skills and experience.
Peoplebank suggest that you:
- Give us the opportunity to meet with you, and learn about what interests you
- Provide us with a comprehensive resume and be prepared to communicate your achievements - there is nothing wrong with demonstrating the successes you have had
- Address any concerns with us immediately, at any time during the contracting journey
- When you are successful in gaining an interview, be prepared - know the client - know the role - know the location of where you need to go!
