Adelaide IT&T Market Update: July 2009
The last six months has seen a considerable tightening in the Adelaide IT&T market across IT Support, Business Analyst and Project Management positions.
Demand for permanent employees was particularly weak whilst demand for contractors has been flat, bucking the trend of recent years where low permanent demand correspondingly
led to high contractor demand.
However, during the last weeks of June and moving now into July we have started to witness a firming in demand across numerous industry sectors as projects previously
on-hold or shelved begin to come back online in the new financial year.
We are predicting a slight and slow improvement in the overall Adelaide market through to December 2009, with the strongest demand coming from the Defence, Utilities and
Federal Government sectors.
In Demand Skills
The skill-sets currently in high demand include…
- Siebel
- SharePoint
- PeopleSoft Business Analysts and Developers
- Oracle Developers, Junior and Senior
- UNIX AIX Engineers
Salaries and Contract Rates
Both permanent salaries and contract rates have remained stationary over the past three months. Looking ahead, we expect to see some slight increases in the coming
three months.
